Last week I take my german shepherd dog Baron to the vet. He hasnt been eating well, is showing signs of dropping weight. In addition, he sounds like Darth Vader dog. Wheezing, acting like its hard for him to breathe. Normally this dog weighs in at a hefty 85-90 lbs. Vet weighed him at 78. They run some tests, hes got blood in his urine and they find a hefty 2/3rds a golf ball sized growth just behind his tongue. They remove it, put him on some antibiotics for a week, and sent the growth off to have a bioptse (sp?) done on it.
/sigh
Results came in today.. Vet calls me on my cell while im at work.. Tells me the growth is cancerous, and very much so. Pathology reports showing that its probably spread to his lymph glands and lungs, this thing is so cancerous. I am two or three shades of depressed, borderline ready to cry my eyes out. The vet said when they see cases like this, there isnt much they can do about it. I may be giving the order to put him to sleep.
Baron came into my life 7 years ago as a puppy of 8 weeks. I always wanted a German Shepherd dog. Gotta love a dog you can give bear hugs to.
I am very, very sad.
